Worker Injured at Brooklyn Construction Site

BROOKLYN, NY — A worker at the construction site of the Gowanus Canal flushing tunnel in Brooklyn was injured Monday afternoon when he fell from a below-ground ladder into the pit of a hole, the authorities said.

The worker, an employee of Northeast Remsco Construction, never lost consciousness and was lifted from the hole on a stretcher, using a series of pulleys, said Mercedes Padilla, a spokeswoman for the city Department of Environmental Protection. He was in stable condition at Lutheran Medical Center.
